It Works Great

I have been eating one egg instead of 2. Now that I have the Yolky, I will eat 2 egg whites instead. Raw eggs are yucky, and separating the yolk from the white is a messy job. By the time I have it separated; I kind of lose my appetite for it. With the Yolky, that does not happen. I learned from watching the TV pro's on the cook shows do it, that the secret to breaking an egg is to gently tap the egg on the edge of a cup for example, and try not to crash it deep, just the edge, then using your fingers gently pull the two sections apart; that way you get absolutely zero broken egg shell pieces in the mix.

With the Yolky, even though I got perfect results the first try, I learned that there is a little trick to getting it to properly separate the yolk. Practice makes perfect. Dropping the yolk dead center is the key. If you drop it off center, the yolk has to do battle with one of the edges of the center cup; the net result is egg nog.

The Yolky works perfectly perched on the top of a standard coffee cup size. You can just perch it on there and forget about it until you are ready to lift it and dump the yolk.

This is one of those favorite great kitchen tools that are so cheap you think they are giving it away. Take care of your heart, and enjoy your eggs. Get a Yolky. Highly recommended. It also makes a great basket fill when you need only a couple more dollars to take advantage of Amazon's free shipping. Get one for your friends, their hearts will appreciate it.

IT WORKS!

I put an egg in and it magically separated the yolk from the white... MODERN MARVEL!!!


UPDATE 08/02/10: Over two years later and this thing is still going strong! No matter how many egg yolks I run through it they are separated. Just to push the limits of this wonder device I did a dozen eggs back to back and they were ALL separated. My wife could not believe her eyes and just shook her head at all the separated eggs.

What the manufacturer does not tell you is that you can reverse the process! Just put the yolk back into the bowl... BAM! its like it was never separated.

Get Eggsited!

OK So I only gave it 4 Stars. Why? I hear you read. Well, because. It does work pretty well. It stands up. Doesn't need much space. Looks kinda cute. I love that it has a little notch so that it will hang horizontally on your jug or bowl. Here's the rub though......
If you crack an egg which has the white strongly connected to the yolk, it can pull the yolk through the side slits. So I highly recommend doing one egg at a time into a separate container.
