I purchased this whistle as an alternative to the Fox 40, and other assorted whistles I have. The shape of the whistle is more comfortable than a "regular" whistle if you are a Volleyball Official. However, the sound does shoot back to you. I would have preferred it to blow down; on to the players. Overall, it is still better than a standard whistle for volleyball, but I would not recommend it for a sport like soccer - get a Fox 40.

Deafness enhancer

I bought a couple of these whistles, and must say I am disappointed. The shape of the whistle, this may not be clear in the photo but it is J shaped, seems to point the sound right back towards the whistle-users ears. I was almost stunned when I gave the whistle a big blast. Yes, the whistle doesn't cost much, and in this case you get what you pay for.

Nice and loud

Having never coached volleyball, I purchased this whistle for security. I'm satisfied with the product. I find it loud enough to get someone's attention. The included lanyard is handy for attaching to a key fob in your purse.
